Application of UV LED fluorescence microscope in detection of fungal infection
release time:2020-05-27

Fungi are eukaryotes. According to their growth characteristics and morphological differences, fungi can be divided into yeast, fungi and mushrooms. Among them, there are about 300 kinds of pathogenic fungi for human, and almost all of the pathogenic fungi of medical significance are molds. According to the different parts of human body, fungal infection can be divided into superficial fungal infection and deep fungal infection. Among them, superficial fungal infection is caused by fungal invasion of human skin, hair and finger (toe) a. Deep fungal infection is fungal invasion of human mucosa, deep tissue and internal organs, and even cause systemic disseminated infection. Among them, deep fungal infection is a severe infection, the mortality rate is 40% - 90%. In recent years, the incidence rate of fungal diseases is increasing, especially in ICU and immunodeficiency patients, and cancer patients. 8% of nosocomial infections are caused by fungi. Therefore, the early diagnosis of fungal infection is of great significance to save the lives of patients.

Traditional identification methods of fungal infection in laboratory mainly include morphological examination, culture + identification, serological examination, molecular biology examination and other methods, such as histopathology and imaging. Traditional detection methods are time-consuming, complex and difficult to distinguish. It is of great significance to find a new rapid detection method for clinical detection. The emergence of new fluorescence microscopy provides a new direction for rapid detection of fungi. Compared with the traditional detection method, the new fluorescence microscope detection method has the following advantages

1. High positive rate of diagnosis: fluorescein combines with β - polysaccharide on fungal cell wall and emits fluorescence under appropriate light source, with high characteristics.

2. Easy to distinguish: the fluorescence and background color of the fungus after staining have a large color difference, and the cell veins are clear and easy to distinguish.

3. Simple and fast: sample processing only needs a few simple steps, and then can be detected by fluorescence microscope. With fluorescence camera, fluorescence pictures can be retained.

MSHOT launched the UV-LED fluorescence microscope and UV fluorescence module MF-BGU-LED, which provided instrumental support for the early clinical detection of infectious fungi. M-shot's UV fluorescence module mf-uv-led can be flexibly matched with Zeiss, Leica, Olympus and Nikon microscopes in addition to its own brand microscopes, which brings convenience and benefits for users who already have different brands of microscopes to upgrade their own microscopes. At the same time, LED light source has the characteristics of long service life, real-time switch, stable output and so on, and becomes the preferred light source of fluorescence microscope. In addition, the performance of the high-performance camera (CCD / CMOS) independently developed by m-shot in the actual shooting of fluorescence imaging has been recognized by the majority of users. With the help of these cameras with high resolution, high definition, high pixel and high sensitivity, various clear fluorescent images can be captured in real time to record the detection results and discuss typical cases.
